What is fat remodelling?

Fat remodeling is where the patient’s own body fat is used in breast remodeling. This is sometimes used after reconstructive breast surgery, or the removal of implants, which has resulted in defects and deformities which can be disfiguring and distressing.

The Procedure

Fat can be taken from unwanted areas like the abdomen and thighs. This harvested fat is then used to cover up breast scars from previous surgery, or used to boost breast volume in deficient areas, or to smooth areas in the breast after reconstruction for cancer surgery.

Another use of fat modelling is after removal of breast implants. Many women who had breast implants in their twenties would like them removed for various reasons, like implant rupture, or capsule contraction resulting in disfigurement and / or pain. Fat removed from around the lower tummy area, upper hips or inner thighs can be used to replace the volume deficit after implant removal. In some cases, this may require two sessions to achieve the desired effect.
